CANVID Changelog

With this update we introduce two brand new features! The first one is presets. This is something that has been asked for many times and is now available with the latest update. Presets allow you to adjust your video to your liking and then save those changes so that you can apply them to new projects easily with the click of a button. You're also able to set a preset as default which means when you create new recordings in the future, it will already have the settings you created saving time and effort.

The next feature we've introduced is the ability to pause while recording. Even though you're able to edit and cut parts of the video out you don't want in the Canvid editor, it can be quite common that you'll have the need to pause while recording such as waiting for a long loading process that doesn't make sense to record. Or maybe something came up in real life where you don't want to scrap what you've recorded so far but just need to do something else quickly. Pause while recording can be super helpful in saving you time when it comes to editing later.

One final note I'd like to make. We have a long list of features, fixes and improvements we'd like to make. We have some super, top secret cool features coming up soon. We do intend on getting some kind of visible roadmap or feature voting page out in the future so that you're able to have your say on what we work on next. In the meantime there have been a couple of comments on the minimum size a zoom can be. We want to provide more flexibility by allowing zooms to be even shorter however there are some technical issues that can cause glitching which is why we haven't done just that. We hope to evaluate this over the next short while and get a patch out that allows zooms to be smaller.

• Presets! - Create presets for your projects to easily switch between styles with a click of a button. You can even set a preset as default so new projects have the look you want immediately!
• Pause while Recording - Sometimes you need to do something else or wait for things to load. Use the pause functionality while recording to reduce editing later!

• Clicking the drag handles of clips and zooms now allow you to select them

• Fixed a UI issue where zooms could be resized smaller but then reset to the larger size
• Fixed an issue where resizing a zoom could cause the app to crash if the zoom was smaller than intended

• Added a new Mac style cursor to cursor options

• Newly created zooms that have been added manually will now automatically be selected when added
• Allowed clips to be trimmed/cut in to smaller pieces

• Fixed an issue which would cause the app to not launch if certain directories didn't exist
• Fixed an issue where exporting didn't work if the Videos folder was preventing access
• Fixed an issue where zooming in on the timeline would actually zoom out
• Fixed a scenario where the app could crash if you clicked the MP4 button on the export dialog before changing it to GIF first
• Fixed the license terms link in the About dialog to point to the correct link

• Vastly improved performance when working on large projects
• Generating log files will now default to the Downloads directory
• Minimized the chance of accidentally adding zoom blocks when dragging the timeline scrollbar
• Upgraded our video compositing library

• Fixed an issue where recording could fail due to an encoder error
• We now show the correct preview image when exporting a video (previously it only showed the screen recording)
• Modifying animations from the graph view is now responsive with the preview

• Saving large projects is now much much faster! 🐇

• Fixed an issue where projects over 4GB couldn't be opened in Canvid

• Improved accessibility of timeline scrolling (made it easier to drag and scroll wheel works)
• Inverted the "Hide Cursor" option to "Show Cursor"
• We no longer hide the initial app screen from being captured by screenshot or recording (however, we still hide ourselves when choosing a window or screen to capture)

• Fixed an issue where it was possible to export a clip via Right Click -> Export Clip without an app license
• Added the missing blur slider to image background
• Prevent the play-head snapping to the wrong side of a trim when clicking around on the timeline
• Fixed an issue where it wasn't possible to open projects directly from the project file itself
• Fixed an issue where the export title would remain after creating a new project
• Fixed an issue where the microphone audio would turn back on after making a cut

• Fixed an issue where project settings weren't being saved properly

• Improved handling of project saving to handle unnecessary saves when nothing has changed
• Moved the default project location to Videos/Canvid/Projects to prevent issues with cloud sync and roaming profiles
• Removed beta tag from the app title bar
• Renamed pre-purchase button to "Upgrade"
