Showing Keyboard Shortcuts in Your CANVID Video

Showing the keyboard shortcuts you pressed is a great way to make your tutorial videos easier to follow. CANVID lets you display these shortcuts directly on screen while editing.

Enabling Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Open the Editor
    Finish a new recording, or open an existing CANVID project.
  • Click the Keyboard Shortcuts Sidebar
    This option is only available if at least one shortcut key (modifier, special, or navigation key) was pressed during the recording.
  • Toggle Show Shortcuts
    Turn this on to display the shortcuts on screen.

Additional Settings

  • Show Symbols
    Keep this enabled if you want certain key presses to appear as symbols (e.g., ⌘ instead of “Command”).
  • Shortcuts Label Size
    Choose form three preset sizes or adjust the slider to customize the size.

Using the Shortcuts Timestamps

The Shortcuts Timestamps list shows every key press detected during your recording. Click any shortcut in the list to jump to the exact moment it was pressed.

Setting Shortcut Visibility

Toggling the Keyboard Shortcut visibility on and off by clicking the 'eye' icon.
  • Hover over a shortcut in the list,
  • Click the eye icon to show or hide that specific shortcut in the final video.
