Give viewers exactly what matters and trim away the clutter. Cropping lets you focus on a single window or region after you record, so you can safely capture your entire screen (great for pop‑ups or system menus) and tidy things up later.
Why use cropping?
- You recorded your whole display but only want to show one app. Keep the good take and hide the rest.
- Window Capture didn't capture a floating context menu such as file menu or right-click menu. Full display capture plus a quick crop will show everything the viewer needs.
- Region capture is not available in Canvid...yet. Cropping gives you the same result without another recording session.
Quick‑start
- Open your project in the editor.
- Click the Crop button under the preview player.
- Drag the white handles to box in what you want to keep.
- Fine‑tune with the Width, Height, Top, and Left fields for pixel‑perfect control.
- Select an Aspect Ratio or type your own if you need a specific size.
- Press Confirm to apply, or Reset to start over.
Tip: Cropping is non‑destructive. You can reopen the Crop tool any time to tweak or remove it.

Frequently asked questions
Does cropping lower export quality?
No. The original recording stays intact. Canvid exports only the visible pixels at their native resolution.
Can I animate or keyframe the crop?
Not right now. The crop applies to the entire clip. For dynamic focus, use Zoom blocks on the timeline.
What if I only want part of the video cropped for a few seconds?
This isn't something that's possible right now. Cropping will be applied to the whole project. In these scenarios, zooming is your best friend.
