One of CANVID’s standout features is Zooming, which lets you bring attention to specific parts of your screen recording. Whether you want to emphasize a button, highlight a section of code, or focus on key visual content, zooming helps direct your viewer’s eyes exactly where you want them.

How Zooms Work in the Editor

In the timeline, Zooms appear as blue segments, placed just below the main video track (green bar). You can preview, move, adjust, and delete them anytime.

Adding Zooms

You can add zooms in two ways:

  • Smart Zooming
While recording, the app automatically detects your mouse clicks and movements. After recording, smart zooms are automatically inserted along the timeline.
  • Custom Zooms
To add a zoom manually, simply click on any empty space just below the green video bar in the timeline. A blue segment will appear which you can fully customize.

Editing Zooms

Zoom segments are flexible and fully editable:

  • Move them along the timeline
  • Resize them using edge trim
  • Add new zooms
  • Delete or disable any zoom

Zoom Options in the Editor Sidebar

Click on a zoom segment to reveal additional options in the right-hand sidebar:

Zoom mode set to Manual
  • Zoom Mode
    • Auto: Follows your cursor automatically
    • Manual: Lets you manually select the area to zoom in on
  • Zoom Level
Adjust the zoom level to increase or decrease magnification.
  • Set as Default
Set your current zoom level as the default for future zooms.
  • Apply to All Zooms
Apply the current zoom level across all zoom segments in the timeline.
  • Delete Zoom
    Remove the selected zoom segment.

Right-Click Zoom Controls

Right-clicking on a zoom segment opens a context menu with more options:

  • Remove: Delete the selected zoom segment
  • Set Zoom Level: Choose from preset zoom levels
  • Disable All: Temporarily turn off all zooms
  • Enable All: Re-enable all zooms
  • Remove All Zooms: Delete every zoom in the timeline
  • Restore All Zooms to Default: Revert all zooms back to default values

Fine-Tune Your Zooms in the Animations Sidebar

For additional control over how your zooms behave, open the Animations Sidebar Menu:

  • Enable Motion Blur
Turned on by default, this adds a subtle blur effect to enhance zoom transitions and cursor movement.
  • Zoom Movement Animation Style
Choose from four animation presets that range from smooth to snappy, or customize your own zoom behavior by adjusting tension and friction levels manually.

These settings help make your zooms feel more natural and visually polished.
