Use Display recording in CANVID when you want to capture everything happening on your screen. This includes your desktop, multiple applications, browser tabs, and notifications. It's the best option for full walkthroughs or multi-app workflows.

Display Mode captures everything on your screen

💡 If you want to capture specific windows or software only, use Window mode instead.

Using Multiple Displays?

If you're using more than one monitor, just click the Monitor option at the bottom of the Pre-recording Screen to select which display you'd like to capture.

Select which display to capture via the Monitor menu

Why Use Display Recording?

  • Captures everything on a selected screen

  • Great for workflows involving multiple apps or windows

  • Shows full context, including mouse movements and transitions between apps

  • Ideal for recording dropdown menus or popups that Window mode may miss

Pro Tips

  • To keep your recording clean and distraction-free, close or mute apps that might trigger pop-up notifications before you begin recording.

You can crop out unwanted areas of the screen—like the taskbar—using CANVID editor’s cropping feature after recording. This helps focus your video on what matters most.
