How to Generate an AI Webcam

Didn’t record with your webcam? No problem. CANVID’s AI Webcam lets you add a realistic webcam video to your recording, fully synced with your existing audio. Whether you forgot to enable your camera, had poor lighting, or simply wanted to focus on recording first, this feature makes it look like your webcam was recorded live.

What is AI Webcam?

AI Webcam is a feature that uses AI to generate a webcam video that is lip synced to your voice in the project.

It works by using a reference template, either from a Template (Avatars), An existing CANVID project with a webcam, or an MP4 video of yourself, and then generates a new webcam video where your mouth movements and facial expressions match the audio in your recording.

The result is a seamless picture in picture webcam that looks natural and authentic.

When should you use AI Webcam?

AI Webcam is useful when:

• You recorded your screen without a webcam but want to add a personal presence
• You were not camera ready during recording but want to appear on screen later
• You want consistent webcam visuals across multiple videos
• You want to reuse a strong webcam take as your template

Important: Save a backup of your project first

Before generating an AI Webcam, save a backup copy of your project file. This ensures you always have a version of your recording without a webcam in case you want to revert later.

How to generate an AI Webcam

Step 1: Open a project without a webcam

AI Webcam is only available for recordings that:

• Were recorded without a webcam, and
• Contain voice audio

If your project already has a webcam recording, this option will not appear.

Step 2: Choose a template

Templates serve as the visual reference for your AI Webcam.

You have two options:

CANVID provides built in templates you can use immediately. Simply select one to represent your webcam.

My Templates

You can also create and use your own templates by clicking Add Template, then choosing one of the following:

• Use webcam from a previous project
  Generates an AI Webcam using the webcam recording from another CANVID project.

• Use an existing webcam video
  Upload an MP4 video of yourself to use as the template (Max 2 mins only)

For best results, follow the recommended guidelines when creating your MP4 avatar template.

Once added, your templates will be saved in My Templates for future use.

Step 3: Choose a processing mode

You can choose where the AI generation will happen:

• Cloud
  Uses CANVID cloud servers to generate your AI Webcam. This option is only available if you have cloud access.

• Local
  Generates the AI Webcam locally on your computer.

Step 4: Generate the AI Webcam

Click Generate AI Webcam to begin processing.

You will see a progress bar while your webcam is being generated. Once complete, your AI Webcam will appear in your recording.

You can customize it just like a regular webcam using the Camera tools in the sidebar.

How to remove AI Webcam from your project

If you forgot to create a backup and want to remove the AI Webcam, you do not need to rerecord your project.

Follow these steps:

Step 1: Save your current project file

Make sure your project is saved.

Step 2: Open CANVID Tools in your browser

Go to:

Step 3: Load your project file

Open your CANVID project using the tool.

Step 4: Remove the webcam file

• Locate the file named cam.mp4
• Click the three vertical dots beside it
• Select Remove

Step 5: Save the updated project

Save the modified project file. This version will no longer include the AI Webcam.
