Dropped Frames While Recording
If frames are being dropped while recording, it usually means your computer's hardware encoder is having trouble keeping up with the screen capture.
In most cases, you can resolve this by trying the options below.
Update your GPU driver
Make sure you're using the latest driver available for your graphics card.
Outdated GPU drivers can sometimes reduce hardware encoding performancce or cause compatibility issues while recording.
Record at 30 FPS
Open CANVID's Recording Settings and make sure your source recording frame rate is set to 30 FPS.
Recording at 60fps requires your hardware encoder to process twice as many frames every second. If you're experiencing dropped frames, switching to 30 FPS can significantly reduce the workload while still providing smooth video for most screen recordings.
Why does this happen?
While recording, CANVID captures frames from your screen and sends them to your GPU's hardware encoder. The encoder then processes those frames and converts them into H.264 or AV1 video for your MP4 recording.
If the hardware encoder cannot process the frames as quickly as the app captures them, the frames can start building up in memory. To prevent this, CANVID may drop some frames so the recording can continue smoothly.
Normally, your GPU's hardware encoder should be able to keep up without any problems. However, recording at higher resolutions such as 4K, using a higher frame rate, or running outdated GPU drivers can increase the workload and make dropped
